Custom Fabricated Alloy Retorts
As specialists in custom furnace fabrication, the team here at Alloy Fabricators of New England, Inc. constructed the cylindrical retort highlighted here, which was used to remove coatings from turbine blades prior to repair. It featured dimensions of 30" in diameter and 55" in height to accommodate this large part application. We built it from Haynes® 230® alloy, a high temperature composition with outstanding resistance prolonged exposure in oxidizing environments, and incorporated water cooled stainless steel flanges to maintain the gas-tight seal and promote temperature uniformity in the interior atmosphere.
Other types of retorts we have manufactured include corrugated cylindrical variants with positive sealing machined flanges as well as low positive pressure sand seals. In addition, we have fabricated rectangular smooth-wall and corrugated-wall side load retorts used for small batch processing of industrial components.
